The Monte Vista Comprehensive Plan update has been completed! The City of Monte Vista extends a grateful thank you to all of the participants in the update process!

The City of Monte Vista Planning and Zoning Commission approved the 2009 Comprehensive Plan at its October 20, 2009 meeting. Final revisions were made to the document per recommendations from the Commission. Interested parties can review the final product at the Monte Vista City Hall, 4 Chico Camino, or here at the project web site (see link below). City Council extended its support of the document prior to the Planning and Zoning Commission review at the September 17, 2009 council meeting.

The City of Monte Vista and Winston Associates, the consultant firm contracted for the Comprehensive Plan update project, conducted the public process to gain community input on the direction for the City’s Comprehensive Plan. The process began in September of 2008 and was finalized this fall. The process included stakeholder and department interviews, three public meetings, a web survey, subcommittee sessions for economic development strategies and the public hearings in front of City Council and the Planning and Zoning Commission.

A Comprehensive Plan is a city's blueprint for the future. The Comprehensive Plan contains land use maps that convey where various land uses are allowed or discouraged. The Plan also contains a vision statement, goals, policies, and implementation strategies. Decision makers, such as the City Council and Planning Commission, use the plan’s goals, policies and implementation strategies during project review of land use and development proposals.
